2026-2027 School Garden Lab Grants

MEEC is now accepting applications for our Environmental School Garden Lab Grants!

Educators can apply for up to $1,000 to start, expand, or sustain a school garden lab and provide students with hands-on environmental and STEM learning opportunities.

Grant funds may support:

  • Seeds, soil, plants, garden beds, tools & greenhouse supplies
  • Waterwise solutions such as drip irrigation, moisture monitors, wicking beds, drought-tolerant plants, mulching, and other water-saving systems
  • Hydroponic and soilless growing systems, including pumps, reservoirs, growing media, nutrients, and related equipment
  • Composting and other sustainability-focused materials

Projects should demonstrate an environmental education, water conservation component, support applicable educational standards, and include a plan for implementation with a detailed project budget.

Eligibility: Applicants must teach at a school located in the High Desert portion of San Bernardino County, Antelope Valley, or Palo Verde Valley of Riverside County.

Maximum Award: $1,000 – Labor costs and food are not eligible for funding.
Application Deadline: November 1, 2026
Awards Announced: By December 31, 2026
