The Mojave Desert Air Quality Management District (MDAQMD), the Mojave Environmental Education Consortium (MEEC) and the Mojave Desert Chapter of the Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA) invite your school to participate in our 2023-2024 “Outstanding Environmental Science Project Awards” program. The purpose of our program – which is open to students in grades K-12 attending school in the High Desert portion of San Bernardino County, Blythe and the Antelope Valley – is to promote environmental education in local schools. To this end, the MDAQMD, MEEC and the local chapter of A&WMA – an international organization of environmental professionals – have joined forces to recognize local students who develop outstanding environmentally-themed projects for competition in local or regional school Science Fairs. Winners of school-level competitions will be awarded $25 gift cards, while winners of District, Regional and higher-level Science Fairs will receive $50 gift cards. Winners will also receive a special ribbon and certificate in recognition of their efforts. One winner per fair will be selected, based on availability of judges. As limited award funds are available, only the first 20 schools to respond will be selected for participation on a first-come, first-served basis. Therefore, you are encouraged to complete and return the enclosed participation application as soon as possible, but no later than January 31, 2024. If your school is selected, one of our representatives will attend your fair judging event to select the recipient of our Outstanding Environmental Science Project Award from eligible entries. We look forward to participating in your science fair and recognizing your outstanding students.
