This two-hour workshop for educators of grades 4-12 is designed to prepare Solar Oven Cook– Off Challenge team advisors to work with their students in constructing working solar ovens and high quality recipes for the annual event.  The Solar Oven Cook-Off competition is for High Desert students in grades 4-12, working as teams of 2-5 students to design and build solar ovens.  At the Solar Oven Cook-Off, teams demonstrate the performance of their solar ovens by creating a unique recipe  for the competition.

Attendees at the workshop will:

  • Review the Official Rule and Registration Requirements of  the Annual Solar Cook-Off Challenge.
  • Learn design and construction principals behind solar ovens and gather ideas for building an oven from  previous winning designs.
  • Have their questions answered about what to expect leading up to and on the day of the event from an actual winning team advisor!

This workshop is being held at 2 locations.  Seating is limited to the first 25 who register.
