NEW!!!! STEM Service-Learning Certification Program

ATTENTION EDUCATORS OF GRADE 3-12!!!!! You are invited to apply for the MEEC STEM Service-Learning Certification Program!!!!

Funded by a generous grant from The Boeing Company, MEEC’s STEM Service-Learning Certification Program is a program being offered to High Desert teachers seeking to advance their knowledge of STEM Service-Learning.

Seating is limited to 25 teachers.

Certification Prerequisites: Attendance at a previous MEEC STEM Service-Learning workshop, completion of program application and currently teaching grades 3-12

This one-of-a-kind certification program will familiarize teachers with the integration of the Common Core, Next Generation Science Standards and College and Career Readiness Standards through Service–Learning Projects.

During this two-day workshop, teachers will collaborate and work through a set of competencies which will guide them in developing STEM Service-Learning programs at their school.

The certification program competencies include:

Integration and recognition of standards into hands-on activity lessons

Implementation of the instructional methodology of STEM Service-Learning

Collaboration with community resources

Design of student driven assessments, rubrics and evaluations

Program maintenance and sustainability

Certification Requirements: Attendance at both days of Certification Program workshop; attendance with a team at 2016 YELC and 2017 YELC Spring Showcase

Application deadline is October 28 at 5:00 PM.
