On March 3, 2020, winners of the Mojave Environmental Education Consortium’s (MEEC) and The High Desert Power Project essay contest, along with their families and friends were invited to an awards ceremony at The High Desert Power Project in Victorville. The local nonprofit and MEEC Sponsor joined forces to present the contest for students in grades K-12 throughout the High Desert. Winners of the “Plastic Pandemic” contest received special certificates and gift cards for their creative and thought provoking ideas on reducing the use of single use plastic. Winners and their guests were also treated to a private tour of the Victorville facility.
MEEC provides environmental education resource materials, workshops, bus field trip mini-grants, and much more to High Desert educators at no charge. MEEC is funded by more than 30 private and public sponsors, including High Desert Power Project.
