Rio Tinto Minerals – Boron Operations, developed a Transportation Grant Program targeting schools in Kern County, Antelope Valley and Santa Clarita communities. Rio Tinto Minerals operates California’s largest open pit mine, and it’s located in neighboring Boron. Through this program, Boron Operations offers field trips to the Borax Visitor Center and reimburses schools up to $350 per school per year toward your transportation costs.
