Did you know that more than half of the High Desert’s air pollution is caused by automobiles? When cars burn gasoline, they produce air pollutants, such as nitrogen oxides and hydrocarbons, which form smog. Today’s cleaner, less polluting cars include Electric Vehicles, which run on electricity; Hybrid Vehicles, which are powered by both gasoline and electric motors; Fuel Cell Vehicles-which run on hydrogen, and cars which use Compressed Natural Gas. Can you create a poster which shows how driving clean cars can help clean the air? To find out more about today’s cleaner cars, visit “Drive Clean”.
