This one day, 3-hour event draws over 2,500 high school students from the Antelope Valley and is held annually at Edwards Air Force Base, located in the city of Palmdale during the month of September. Students arrive by busess and are treated to an opening ceremony featuring various aircraft from Edwards AFB.
Students are invited to talk with representatives from more than 50 business, government agencies, and schools regarding careers and education in the various fields. Many of these companies and government agencies represented careers in environmental education as well as service-related, healthcare, beauty schools, and various other fields.
Booths provide students with handouts, games, bags, materials, and of course, career information including education requirements and salary ranges. Representatives are available for onsite counseling and were able to answer most of the students questions. Some booths even offered hands-on activities such as sitting in a flight simulator, water testing, and live reptiles from Edwards AFB.
